London Bridge Quarter Christmas Fundraising

London Bridge Quarter (LBQ) held a Christmas event for its tenants and charity partner to celebrate a successful 2014. A Christmas carol service was performed by the acclaimed London Community Gospel Choir in front of the Estate’s Christmas tree, situated on the Plaza between the two iconic buildings, The Shard and The News Building, while festive food and drinks stalls were provided by Borough Market.

Ahead of the event office tenants of The Shard and The News Building, The Shard’s Oblix restaurant and the Estate’s asset managers REM, raised over £8,000 for Evelina London Children’s Hospital, part of neighbouring Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Trust. The money will go towards a new state-of-the-art mobile sensory unit, as well as gifts for children who are unable to be at home this Christmas.

Speaking at the event, Irvine Sellar, developer and co-owner of The Shard and LBQ, in partnership with the State of Qatar commented, “It is with great pleasure that we are able to enjoy our first London Bridge Quarter Christmas event and to give support to our local children’s hospital Evelina London. We are delighted that so many of our tenants have joined us to celebrate what has been a remarkable year for the Estate, where we have welcomed 14 new tenants to both The Shard and The News Building, and look forward to welcoming more companies in 2015, including Tiffany & Co, The Office Group, HCA and HarperCollins. On behalf of the owners of London Bridge Quarter, we wish everyone in this vibrant new district of London a very Happy Christmas.”

Evelina London, Medical Director, Sara Hanna said “The children and their families who live in Lambeth and Southwark are especially important to the Evelina London. There is a long tradition of care specifically for children in this area. We are really pleased to be supported by the local people and businesses and look forward to using their kind donations to make things better for the children we look after. Thank you for supporting us.”

The Estate is now over 75% let and has welcomed 14 new tenants this year including The Times, The Sunday Times, The Sun, News UK, Foresight, Mathys & Squire, Shangri-La Hotel, Al Jazeera, Warwick Business School, South Hook Gas, Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones.
