File sharing that’s what people call it. Is that an excuse for illegal downloads? Sharing of copyright Software, Music tracks, Movies etc., has created a threat to the creative industry.

Lord Mandelson, confirms account suspension of the internet users who are accused of illegal file sharing. The account will be suspended only after two initial warnings and also an appeal process would be filed against the accused under the “Digital Economy Bill”. The creative sector has faced challenges to protect the formats earlier, but today’s threat from online infringement scales up higher.

Under this proposal, the ISPs would be instructed by a reserve power for initiating technical measures against persons accused for illegal file sharing. Measures such as slowing down the internet speed can be used instead of account suspension.

Followed by this review, David Lammy, intellectual property minister states that its not an excuse for illegal file downloads, but to do things with legally published content like remix, hip-hop’s etc., Also it is a system to identify consumers reaction as we continuously believe in technology on our day-to-day lives.

BT has also posted its opinion on this proposal of disconnection, that they are disappointed of the costs that falls to ISPs. This in turn will increase the broadband prices. But its happy that the government supports the regimes to warn, educate and prosecutions of rights held by individuals and current business models as a mandatory element before an action taken against any consumer.

The company said that they wish to know if any form of a legal hearing would be sent to the accused consumers before the suppliers can take any action against them.   Source:www.broadbandsuppliers.co.uk ( Uk Leading Comparison Site)

New EU law expected to be passed soon offers some hope to Internet users all over Europe accused of file-sharing. The new law is meant to give them some protection from the law in their country that allows them to be cut off by their services provider. The Telecoms Reform Package is expected to be passed before the end of November. It is said that the package will entitle users in all 27 EU states to be put through a “fair and impartial procedure” before being disconnected.

EU countries have different approaches to how to deal with this issue, some members of the European Parliament felt nobody should lose their connection until after they had been prosecuted in a court for illegally downloading content while in UK, no such procedure is necessary before an file-sharer is cut off.
