It is the fourth month of the year, and here is my monthly roundup of the best articles in SEO and internet marketing niche for the month of April, 2015.

If you think that I missed something, then you can get in touch via this form or by using my Twitter account.

“How To Get More Search Traffic With Long Tail Keywords” on Ahrefs blog. It is not a big secret that long tail keywords bring more quality traffic to the website. For example, if you are selling laptops; it is more likely that you will make a sale from the keyword “buy Lenovo s500i laptop in Liverpool” instead of “buy Lenovo laptop”.

In this article, the author shows some good examples that can help you to identify long tail keywords that will perform better for your business. He recommends using Google Keyword planner to find more long tail keywords. Also, as you probably know; it is easier to rank high for long tail keywords.

Google Panda & Penguin Lack Real-Time Updates, Despite Google’s Past Statements” by Danny Sullivan on Search Engine Land. Some time ago, the Google team claimed that Panda update would be consistently updated:

“That last big update is still rolling out — though really there won’t be a particularly distinct end-point to the activity, since Penguin is shifting to more continuous updates. The idea is to keep optimizing as we go now.”

But then Google team claimed another:

“I think both of those algorithms [Panda and Penguin] currently are not updating the data regularly. So that is something for both of them, where we kind of have to push the updates as well.”

“Landing Page Optimization: the Complete Guide” by Robin Geuens on Conversion Base website. This topic is very close to me because I’m working with Adwords campaigns and landing pages improvements is one of the most crucial factors in this process. Some time ago, I have written a post “Landing Page Optimization – Boost Conversion With These Design Examples” for Matthew Woodward’s blog.

lp

In the post written by Robin I can see some very interesting points. Here is what he is talking about:

  • Chapter 1: Landing Page Fundamentals
  • Chapter 2: How to Find out Exactly What Your Customers Think of You
  • Chapter 3: Writing Copy That Converts Really Well
  • Chapter 4: How to Design a High Converting Landing Page
  • Chapter 5: Getting Your Landing Page in Front of The Right People
  • Chapter 6: Increasing Your Conversion With A/B Testing
  • Chapter 7: Good Optimization Case Studies to Learn From
  • Chapter 8: Additional Resources That Help you Kick Butt
  • Chapter 9: Tools That Will Make Your Life Easier

I’m sure that for most professionals there is no new information. On the other hand, if you are new to this, then you may find much useful information from Robin’s post.

15 Places You Should Be Sharing Your Blog Posts (Other Than Facebook And Twitter)” by Sujan Patel on Search Engine Journal. I’m sure that most of you get loads of traffic after publishing a new post on your Facebook and Twitter. But it is true that we do not pay much attention to other traffic sources that can be even more successful in garnering traffic than those social networks.

I will not be talking too much about each platform. You may find more information on the original post. I will just list these 15 places that you should definitely consider:

  • SlideShare
  • Visual.ly
  • LinkedIn Groups
  • Pinterest
  • Instagram
  • StumbleUpon
  • Google+ Communities
  • Biz Sugar
  • Email list
  • Scoop.it
  • Niche based social bookmarking sites
  • Blog engage
  • Industry specific social networks
  • Reddit

“Hard Numbers for Public Posting Activity on Google Plus” by Eric Enge on Stone Temple site. Fantastic and very detailed post where you can find many useful information about Google Plus social network.

90% of the people who create Google+ profiles have never posted publicly on Google+”. And it is true. To be honest, I have a few pages created myself that have no content.

This table can tell you much more:

google+

However, since there is a majority of non-active profiles on Google, it does not mean that you should abandon this network. It just means that you should know how to target the right audience to get more traffic to your site.

“How to Promote Pins on Pinterest” on Web Page FX. To be honest, I’m still not using this network very actively compared to how much time I pay to Facebook and Twitter. But it does not mean that Pinterest is not useful social network.

According to a recent study, 69% of Pinterest users say that they have found an item they have purchased or wanted to purchase on it. Also, there is very good female audience.

In this article, the author is talking about “Sponsored pins”. I was very surprised that Pinterest offers such good targeting options. You may choose from: mobile or desktop, location, gender, language, search terms etc.

“How to Adapt Your Content Strategy in Time for Mobilegeddon” by Chandal Nolasco da Silva on Search Engine Journal. Since the internet world goes more deeply into mobile world, Google decided to make a huge step into mobile rankings, too.

Some time ago they informed people that from April 24th Google will lower in rankings websites that are not mobile friendly. Obviously, this means a huge loss in traffic for some websites. I will not be talking too much about different methods of checking that your website is mobile friendly. You just can go into Google and type your site name. If you see the “mobile-friendly” mark near your snippet, it means your website is mobile friendly. For example, here is how it looks for temi.co.uk:

In this post, the Chadal talks about different ways to make your site more mobile friendly. This is a must read post for everyone.

16 Actionable SEO Copywriting Secrets That Will Drive More Traffic To Your Site” by Brain Dean on Backlinko. I love Brian’s writing style and this post is just another great one. SEO copywriting is very important for everyone who wants to rank higher in SERP. However, not many people know exactly how to write actionable texts that will bring more traffic to your website.

Brian listed 16 very good methods. I just will highlight the most interesting for me, but it does not mean that the rest are not useful. : )

  • Use Udemy to Make Your Content 2-3x More Compelling
  • Add “Bucket Brigades” To Slash Bounce Rate and Boost Time On Page
  • Add More LSI Keywords With “Searched Related To…”
  • Borrow Headline Formulas From BuzzFeed and ViralNova
  • Embed Adwords Copy to Get More Clicks to Your Organic Results

There you have the best posts, in my opinion, during the month of April 2015. I hope you liked them, too. Please share your comments below or contact me via this form or via my Twitter account.
