Most webmasters would have notices the ubiquity if web directories on the internet this days, from the excellent well organised web directory with some innovative features to the crude web directories that is more a link Spam than a directory offering useful resource to internet users. Going back memory lane, I can quite remember which company pioneered web directories, was it Alta Vista or Yahoo? If you know the history of web directories let me know.
