Link Wheel – SEO friendly way to build quality backlinks?

May 1, 2010

Link Wheel - SEO Friendly link building?

Link Wheel - SEO Friendly link building?

Build Quality SEO Friendly Backlinks with Linkwheel

Now that Google and other search engine are placing a lot of emphasis on quality rather than quantity of link pointing to a website or web page for SEO ranking purposes, getting quality links to help your site rank better is more difficult than ever. You could just sit back and let other webmasters link to you naturally like most search engines suggested or you could be proactive, go out there and find way to generate quality links.

Webmasters and link builders use various creative ways to obtain SEO friendly links to their site, quite a lot of this way are sneaky which mean as soon as site owners discover that links are being obtained from them through the back door they close the loophole. Some of the popular ways of obtaining links sneakily includes forum signature and forum posting at dofollow forums, commenting on dofollow blogs and so on.

This article look into another link building technique called Link Wheel (also known as a Social Media Link Wheel when you use social media sites to develop the Link Wheel). Link Wheel is basically building several mini niche websites mostly using hosted blogs, linking the sites together and then harvesting links from the mini website to boost your principal site.

As the saying goes, pictures says a thousand words hence this article will not go into the complexity of how the link should be arrange but instead point you to the image on this article which shows how the sites should link to each other with the principal site you want to boost getting one way link from most sites.
The Link Wheel configuration in the attached diagram is not necessarily the best way, there are a number of other ways to set the link Wheel up, the most important thing is that you point links from the mini sites to the principal site and you link most of the mini sites to one another and get external links to point to the mini sites.

Free hosted blog website such as WordPress and other like is is recommended for the mini sites for two main reasons; to reduce the cost of creating your mini site and the fact that the principal domain is already trusted by search engines.

You should pay attention to the quality of the contents of the mini site, you should take the time to create and post quality article on the mini sites, if you do not do this, links harvested from the mini site will be useless.

How do you define quality backlinks?

February 18, 2007

A memeber of iWeb Tool Forums asked and a very interesting question; how do you define what high quality backlinks are? I have come across this question in the past, I always find it quite difficult to answer so I offerred the following as a possible answer to the question.

Well, not all sites are created equally as you know, I will use examples to illustrate what is and what is not a high quality back link, this are not definitive but its a guide.
1. link from so called authority site for example a link from www.oanda.com (PR9) is of higher quality than a link from say my blogs (www.temi.co.uk)
2. A link from my blogs, is of higher quality than a link from PR1 link farm.
3. A link from PR1 link far is of higher quality than a link from PR0 website
4. A link from PR1 website with 5 outgoing links is a better link from a link from PR1 website with 100 outgoing links.
5. A link from PR1 website with several strong sites pointing to it is better than a link from PR2 website without quality backlinks

As you can see, the variable that comes to play are diverse and interesting.

So if you have site “A” with over 100 links from PR1 and PR2 sites  and site “B” with 5 incoming links but all 5 links are from sites of Oanda.com calibre, site “B” with fewer but more high quality links will rank better than site “A” with poor quality but many more links.
