Web Directories has been around long before Search Engines, as a matter of fact, it can be argued that Web Directories evolved to become Search Engines. The shared history between the two most popular forms of arranging information on the Internet is all that is left of the similarity between a Web Directory and Search Engines. Search Engines have since become far more sophisticated over the years, employing complex algorithm to store information and serve near perfect search results to surfers searching for information online.
Web Directories on the other hand has barely moved on since it started. It still rely largely on human discretion to determine the quality of a website, search facilities in web directories by Internet standards are well and truly outdated.
Most Web Directories rely on third party script to power them, one such script is Link Bid Script. In an attempt to address some of the aforementioned criticism of directory scripts, LBS has created a new Directory script. Originally created to be a bid for position script, it has now been modified to be a full featured Web Directory script.
Link Bid Script new version places a lot of emphasis on the accuracy of search results provided to searchers, with a new semi intelligent feature that refines the accuracy of search result based on what searchers click on.
One of the newest features in Link Bid Script, which is the first in any Directory script is the network feature; this enables a directory owner to link multiple LBS installation and share data including submission listing so that a site submitted to one LBS Directory can be listed in other LBS Directory in the network.
