Nominet recently announce changes to its domain name deletion policy to curb ‘domain tasting’, domain tasting is a practise where some Nominet tag holders register a domain to assess its revenue generating potential, it the domain is deemed to have some potential its kept and it judged not to have good revenue potential the domain is deleted.
Nominet policy allow for tag holders to register a domain name and pay for it in thirty days, Nominet allows that domain name register in error that is not yet paid for can be deleted within that thirty days without the need to pay. Domain name tasters use this thirty days period to ‘taste’ as many domain names as they can, keeping the domain with good revenue potential and deleting the one that does not appear to be promising without paying for the domain name.
