non-Latin web addresses go live
The very first countries to take advantage of the non-Latin domain name as soon as ICANN switched it on are the Arab countries including Saudi Arabia, Egypt and UAE. The aforementioned countries went live with country code domain names written in Arabic scripts on the day it was made possible by ICANN
China with its huge online population was expected to be one of the first to adopt the non-Latin web address but the Arab countries have beating them to it. The switch on of the non-Latin domain names is said to transform the world wide web into a truly world wide web regardless of your language or script unlike how it has been since it was originally created. This move allow web addresses in many scripts including Chinese, Thai and Tamil.
Many of the countries who script are non-Latin based as said to request approval, so far well over 20 countries have requested approval for international domains from the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (Icann).
This new comes as Nominet, the UK domain naming authority is considering extending the extensions that could be registered within the UK domain name space including two character domain name.

Dot xxx adult domain to be considered by ICAN
March 9, 2010
Top level porn domain to be considered by ICANN board
The domain extension creation season seem to be upon us again. A few days after Nomine, the UK domain name registration authority started a consultative process to create one and two character domain names along with a host of other domain name extensions withing the .uk domain name space, the sponsors of another domain name extension, the top level extension .xxx were getting ready to push for the creation of their domain extension.
.xxx domain extension which the sponsor want to create specifically for website with adult contents went before ICANN for approval about three years ago but the plan was not approved. The sponsors have dust their proposals down and are putting it before ICANN again on the 12t of March 2010 at their meeting in Kenya’s capital, Nairobi.
Sponsors of .xxx domain were buoyed by the conclusion of an independent panel that looked into rejection of the domain extension about three years ago, the panel said: “decision to reject .xxx domain was unfair and that the plan should be reconsidered.” members of ICANN may be forced to back the plan to create the exclusively adult website domain extension in a few days time.
One avid domain name property speculator and adult website webmaster said “creation of .xxx domain extension will actually be good for the Internet safety because network administrator will find it easy to ban juveniles access to all website with the .xxx domain extension” creation of this new extension will also be good for the domain name industry.
Another webmaster said “the porn domain extension is like the beast in the eagle song hotel California, ICANN just cannot kill the beast”, they have been trying to kill it off for many years but I have a feeling it will be approved this time” he added.
Fingers crossed to see if this contention domain extension will indeed be approved the second time its going for approval by ICANN boards.
Domain names for beginners – choosing a web address
February 24, 2010

A good domain name plays a major role for a website’s usability and search engines results. Therefore, choosing an appropriate domain name is equal to promoting and branding a website even before it is launched online. Though almost all best domains already belong to someone else, if combined some good tactics with creativity and good linguistic knowledge fellows out there might discover that possibilities for choosing a high-quality domain are endless.
Either thinking about growing a blog and add some popularity to it, or build an identity for a company, choosing a domain name is essential for what future users are up to in the online environment. The World Wide Web is crawling with advice and tips on picking a domain name, they worth a mention though they require more essential details to be added.
If possible, these are five golden rules when choosing a domain name:
1. A domain name should be short – a longer domain name equals with higher possibilities for a potential visitor to misspell the address.
2. A domain name should be unforgettable and impressive
3. Must be easy to spell
4. Must be easy to pronounce – again, a name that shivers people when they pronounce it will definitely become a bad choose for website’s name
5. Always verify so that domain name is not getting into trouble with someone else’s trademark.
There are many possibilities to choose from, when thinking about a domain name. If a cash reserve is prepared for buying one, people could get a single-word domain, though finding a good one will cost a load of money; or they could try applying some other tactics that would allow finding out other domain name that suits their needs.
So, what are those other strategies? There are two types of domain names available out there: intuitive names and brandable names.
We should disseminate first the “intuitive”, rich with keywords domain names. An intuitive name might be found by an individual who doesn’t have a clue regarding a specific website but he’s doing a search on phrases/keywords linked to a particular subject and finds out that information he searched for is located on a website with a name related to those keywords typed. The best strategy for a discoverable domain name is to mix, tweak or create a phrase from 2, 3, maybe 4 keywords. The possibilities are infinite.
Second, there are the “brandable” domain names, like Twitter. Those establish an unique identity online for a website and suggest interesting and different ideas and feelings. It is harder to come up with a brandable domain name but once it is established people who know it can use only search engines to reach it or, of course, use the intuitive search, if the website holds a wide number of visitors and good SEO’d content.
In conclusion, domain names are not to be chosen by guess. Though this strategy might succeed for some people, that’s not a real option. Choosing a domain name means a deep analysis of what niche will be related to, what keywords will promote the website in search engines and, of course, a bit of creativeness.
