Starting from this month, I have decided to turn my attention to another little niche. From SEO and internet marketing, I’m moving to social media marketing and optimisation. This niche seems to be even more popular today compared to SEO.

As we approach the middle of the year, here is my monthly roundup of the best articles in SMM and SMO niche for the month of August, 2015.

If you think that I missed something, then you can get in touch via this form or by using my Twitter account.

“3 reasons Why Twitter lists are a must-use Twitter Feature” by Katerina Petropoulou on Twitter Counter blog. I suppose if you are efficient in Twitter marketing, then you must definitely use Twitter lists. Following are my reasons for doing so:

  1. When you add someone to your Twitter list, he/she receives notification and, very often, will review your profile. It means you can get new followers.
  2. If you have a large number of Twitter followers, it could be difficult to know everyone by name, so you can create niche lists: My stuff, My Clients etc. It will help.
  3. Also, when you want to find useful information to share with your followers, you may need to add those who usually share something interesting and useful to a special list, so you can see only their tweets.

Well, here are the reasons according to Katerina:

  1. Monitor situations of the most important elements.
  2. Build relationships with the new people in your niche.
  3. Create content. It is a great way to keep up with all that’s happening in real time and create content you can share with your followers.

Some interesting lines from the interview:

  • Use Buy Now Twitter button for increasing your revenue.

  • Other social networks like: Google+, Facebook and Pinterest offer call-to-action buttons.

How to Drive Traffic to Your Blog Through Your Archived Material on Facebook” by Jonathan Goodman at ProBlogger. The topic of this post is videos on Facebook. According to the recent statistics, and I’m sure it is not a big secret to everyone, social media posts accompanied by graphics or videos are more likely to be shared.

The author shows how to use videos to get new views and increased traffic to your blog or website.

“How Applebee’s Delighted Me with Social Media” by David Boutin on Lab3 Marketing blog. David tweeted to Applebee’s using their official Twitter account that his wife does not have their coupon and, within 3 minutes, they responded to him including the requested coupon.

After that, David decided to continue the conversation with them to see how long they took to reply to silly questions. What is the most interesting is that they replied to all of his tweets. The main conclusion drawn from this experiment is that the client is very happy.

“The Beginner’s Guide to Ranking Videos on YouTube” by Luke Harse on ImFrom The Future blog. YouTube is probably one of the biggest networks and not many webmasters still pay much attention to video promotion. Actually, one of the biggest problems for everyone is to make a high quality video. It is usually expensive to do so.

After reading this post, you will find some useful stuff that can help you to rank your video higher. It is not enough to just upload your video to YouTube. You must optimise it for keywords: file name, description, tags and channel authority. User interaction is another ranking factor in YouTube: number of views, comments, likes, dislikes, favorites and shares etc.

Facebook Launches M, Its Bold Answer to Siri and Cortana“ Jessi Hempel on Wired. M is a new virtual assistant. Some useful features that M can do:

“Your tweets now show up in Google desktop search results, too“ by JP Mangalindan on Mashable. I think this is another way to show that the internet world integrates deeply with social media. Google has made a very good decision, in my opinion, when they rolled out this feature. Now you can see your tweets in Google desktop search results.

Relevant tweets can lead you to whatever you’re searching.

For now, I do not know how trusted your Twitter account should be to be shown in Google search results.

“How to Become Twitter Superstar: Jim & Ann Show #JimAndAnn” by Jim Boykin on Internet Marketing Ninjas. There are many good posts on how to get more followers to your Twitter accounts. Here is another one.

  1. Start genuine interactions: add useful comments; quote, tweet or retweet.
  2. Twitter chats. It probably is one of the most powerful ways today. According to my experience, you can find Twitter chats about anything. If not – be the first to start a new chat.
  3. Mention influencers. If you are lucky and they retweet you; you can get many new followers.
