Yahoo! Launches Yahoo! Answers in UK

 

Yahoo! UK, today launches Yahoo! Answers, a social search services that was launched in US in January this year, it has been in beta test stages in UK since April, the live version of Yahoo! An answer goes online in UK today.

Launched with a multimillion-pound ad campaign in newspapers, radio and television, Yahoo! has not spent the kind of money it’s spending on the launch of Yahoo! Answers for over six years.

 

In the same category as social search application such as Wikipedia and YouTube, Yahoo! Answers use the knowledge of online member to provide information to other members who use Yahoo! Answers to find information online.

At present, Yahoo! Answer is available in 18 countries and has over 50 million registered users. Its growing database has provided over 75 million answers.

There are speculations that Yahoo! may eventually supplement search results provided by its search service with data from Yahoo! Answer
