PPC Engine and its benefits

December 25, 2008

Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising is a part of search engine optimization. With PPC, you can pay to have your ad listed on major search engines by bidding on keywords that are related or connect to your business. These PPC links usually appear at the top, bottom or right side of the results page of the search engine and are referred to as Sponsored Links, Featured Listings and Sponsored Listings.

The ranking of your PPC campaign ads depend on your open bidding system where advertisers bid for the listing of their advertisements. This bid amount is borne by the advertiser when the visitor clicks on the ad. The person who gets the highest bid theoretically gets the highest listed position. However, there are some search engines that follow a different principle, which positions your ad on other factors besides the bid. With the rising competition in the market, it is only with the optimizing of the PPC engine it is possible to remain a step ahead of the pack.

PPC rankings are based on your bid, when compared with other bids made in an auction type of bidding system. The advertisement with the highest bid appears at that top of the Paid Listings results page. The other bids make the ads appear chronologically. In most of the PPC engines, it is the top four bid positions that receive the maximum distribution across the networks. With this, they receive greatest exposure and click traffic too.

Using both SEO and PPC in a website tends to give positive results while a planned SEO plan can produce more visitors at lower cost than that of a PPC campaign. The basic benefit of PPC engines is that you can control the amount that you intend to spend, and decide where you want it to be ranked. Moreover, with the PPC engine, you pay only for the traffic that goes through your website.

campaigns generally need editorial reviews before becoming active; but there are some cases where there is no need of an editorial review. However, the presence of the editorial review does not hamper the PPC campaign from starting in a few days.

There is no need of any expert knowledge to use the PPC engine. Of course, an experience with search engines is definitely an advantage. You find that the tracking of the success of the PPC engine is rather easy with the presence of a tracking code and metrics. There is no need of making any changes to the content or web design of your website to get started in the PPC engine. However, you can always use a PPC campaign to find out the right keywords by using a PPC campaign to find out how they convert. These keywords can thus be added to your PPC campaign.

What You Should Know before Choosing Your Ecommerce Shopping Cart

December 22, 2008

As people begin to do more of their shopping online, hundreds of new ecommerce sites are popping up every day.  For this reason, a well organized and visually appealing website is vital to the success of your ecommerce business.  If you are only selling a handful of items, then accomplishing this task is fairly simple.  However, when you launch a full blown ecommerce site with hundreds or even thousands of items, a premium shopping cart service is essential to your business’ success.

Frankly, considering adding shopping cart functionality to your site when you are only offering just a handful of items might be worth consideration.   You always want to plan your business so that it is easily scalable.  In this way, you are planning for your business’ growth and expansion and will experience none of the headaches of a shortsighted business plan.

When you are searching for just the right shopping cart solution, it is easy to become confused or get sidetracked.  It may be difficult to figure out exactly what features you need.  Whatever shopping cart solution you ultimately choose, you need to be certain that you select software that is customizable to your website and that offers your customers a seamless shopping experience.

With most ecommerce business owners, one of the first considerations when deciding upon a shopping cart solution is price.  While price certainly is important, your end decision should not be based solely upon this single selling point.  It is important to find that healthy balance between affordability and the robust cart features you require.

One of the top ecommerce shopping cart solutions on the market today that may be worth considering is the Boss Cart Premium shopping cart software.  It definitely maintains that all important balance between being affordable and also offering the features you need to ensure that your ecommerce site runs smoothly.

One of the best features about this particular software is it makes it extremely simple even for those with little to no site design experience to set up the software and have it running in no time with its built in catalogue manager.  With the BossCart premium software, you can easily add and manage well over 10,000 products.

With any ecommerce shopping cart software you choose, you want to also make sure that you will have the support and guidance you need to get it properly set up and running.  Many companies will tell you that they provide support, but be careful to select a company that offers comprehensive support for their shopping cart product.

Being able to speak with someone by phone is ideal, but at the least, they should offer extensive email support.  In the event that you cannot get the software set up on your own, the company should be willing to help you install it on your server.  BossCart Premium shopping cart software extends all of these features at no extra charge to its customers.

Also, to help ensure that you are making the right decision, check out online reviews of the ecommerce shopping cart solution you are considering.  Look for positive comments about reliability and customer support.

Another thing that you should check out before making your final decision is whether the company offers any type of guarantee for their shopping cart software.  There is nothing worse than spending a hefty sum only to realize that your satisfaction is not guaranteed.  If the shopping cart software you purchase does not meet your expectations, a guarantee allows you to take comfort in knowing that you have not lost your initial investment.

Though there will be many more considerations when choosing your ecommerce shopping cart, these are some of the most important.  Before selecting any shopping cart product, make sure that you have done an appropriate amount of research beforehand.  In this way, you can be certain that the ecommerce shopping cart you ultimately choose will be the right one for your business.

How generate income from you site via Amazon Affilliates

December 14, 2008

One of the most often asked questions by newbies in webmaster forums is how to make money from a website. The popular answer to this is usually Adsense, which is a good answer, most people seem to forget other tried and trusted ways to generate income from a website such as affiliates and other sources.

Team Player, an experienced webmaster at Webmaster Serve who has been generating revenue via Amazon affiliates for year wrote a brilliant post about this in the Site Monetization section of Webmaster Serve, excerpt from his post follows:

I doubt there are many people who haven`t heard of the online retail giant, Amazon. And as far as affiliate programs go, it has to be one of the most successful companies of all time.

Amazon is in the U.S., the UK, Canada, France, Germany, and Japan, so it is an international company in every respect, though the affiliate schemes run separately for each country.

Amazon is one of the most proactive companies I know of for promoting itself, either through online advertising, or through helping its affiliates to drive traffic to it.

How do you go about joining their affiliate program, or, as Amazon calls it, their Associates Program?

First of all the numbers. Commission rates are stepped from 4% to 8.5% under their `Performance` scheme. It isn’t the highest by any means, but, since most people know and trust Amazon, sales can be easier than with other lesser known programs.

Basically there are three ways to set up a site in order to sell Amazon products. Own site; storefront; Amazon`s own web store.

To get commissions from them, you need to sign up to the relevant Associates program for the country you are aiming their products at. That means that if your site is predominantly visited by people from the UK, for example, you need to be an Associate with the UK Amazon program. You can be registered as an Associate with ALL the countries, there`s no limit. If someone from, say, the US, clicks on one of your links, and they end up at the US Amazon site and make a purchase, you won`t receive any commission from that sale, unless you are also registered with the US Amazon, with your appropriate Associates code, or tag, in the link.

Internet Watch Foundation V Wikipedia

December 10, 2008

Last Saturday, the 8th of December, Internet Watch Foundation placed Wikipedia on a watchlist because Wikipedia use image of the cover album of German rock band, Scorpions’s  1976 Album which features the picture of a nude young girl.
Most UK ISP tends to filter contents Internet Watch Foundation put on their watch list hence that particular Wikipedia entry was filtered in UK, this also forced the rest of Wikipedia trough proxy server, making the site very slow.
The result of blacklisting Wikipedia seem to have backfired on Internet Watch Foundation because their action resulted in the image being distributed. When Internet Watch Foundation removed Wikipedia from its blacklist three days later, it cited the fact that its action seem to have resulted in promoting the image, a spokes person also said “in light of the length of time the image has existed and its wide availability, the decision has been taken to remove the webpage from our list.”
