Social Bookmarking
Wikipedia defines Social Bookmarking as “The Social bookmarking sites are a popular way to store, classify, share and search links through the practice of folksonomy techniques on the Internet or Intranet.” In other words is a more social was of sharing links you sould have usually stored in your browser favourites in IE or you Bookmarks in Mozilla browsers.
I recently noticed that webmasters are using this new popular methords to generate more traffic for their websites. My faourites of the popular bookmarking sites is del.icio.us . If you read del.icio.us “about page” you can see that del.icio.us is “collection of favourites – yours and everyone else’s” , so you can save your bookmarks but also you are allowed to view the ones saved by other users of the site. At first I wondered why do I need to save my bookmarks online, when anyway I have this option in my browser?
Apart from being able to share you bookmarks with your friends and others surfers, you can get to your bookmarks from anywhere, you are not restricted to accessing you bookmarks from your website any more.
One curious thing I observer in forum it that webmasters are beginning to exchange del.icio.us bookmarks, apparently this seem to generate more traffic for their website.
My opinion is that del.icio.us is becoming a way for webmasters to manipulate the popularity of their sites in addition to sharing the favourite with their friends.
Well, while on the topic of manipulation, this is my first article, can you please help me manipulate its popularity by adding it to you del.icio.us or digg J

Forum Post Exchange at UK WW
February 24, 2007
One of the most challenging aspects of getting a forum off the ground is getting new members. Other times, you do manage to get new members but they are painfully shy of being the first one to post or start a new thread. February 23, 2007 Now and again, discussions in a forum gets heated, especially when the issue in question is sort of legal. The issue that got things heated at UK Webmaster Forums in the last few days was copyright. Two senior members Old Welsh Guy and Midlandi have a different interpretation of what constitutes copyright and how it should be approached. I know even the lawyers and the law lords usually interpret the same laws differently, but this discussion does raises important question about copyright, a definition for it can be found here: but as we know, laws are not universal, the interpretation in UK will be different from the interpretation in Australia for example. I think it is important that webmasters are aware of copyright and respect them to prevent them getting those nasty letters from legal departments usually of bigger companies. You can join the discussion at UK Webmaster Forums by clicking here February 22, 2007 An Egyptian court has sentenced a blogger to four years’ prison for insulting Islam and the president. February 22, 2007 It appears most webmasters do not trust PPC. One of UK webmaster forums senior member Maxseo from Australia criticise the response he received from Goggle when he got and usually large number of clicks to his adwords adverts, ever since he stopped using Adwords. The largest groups of search engine and web directory network on the planet ISEDN uses the fact that there is not such thing as click fraud on their network as one of their USP. All this discussion makes me wonder how wide spread click fraud is. You can discuss this and other webmaster related issues at UK Webmaster Forums .
Most of the time, new forum owners address this issue by either hiring paid for post consultant (or mercenaries as some people unkindly call them), another alternative is to get other forum owners to come and post in your new forum in exchange for you posting in their forum, this is know as post exchange.
UK Webmaster Forums have a unique Post Exchange system to get new forums brimming with posts, unlike the automated post exchange system some forums has, UK WW hand select the most appropriate post exchange members and introduce them to one another FREE of charge.
This can help you get your new forum or even add more contents to your existing forum with the manual Post Exchange system. All you need to do to join is to register your interest and a Post Exchange admin will contact you to get the ball rolling, got to

Blog and be damned
Abdel Kareem Soliman’s trial was the first time that a blogger had been prosecuted in Egypt.
He had used his web log to criticise the country’s top Islamic institution, al-Azhar university and President Hosni Mubarak, whom he called a dictator.
A human rights group called the verdict “very tough” and a “strong message” to Egypt’s thousands of bloggers.
Soliman, 22, was tried in his native city of Alexandria. He blogs under the name Kareem Amer.
A former student at al-Azhar, he called the institution “the university of terrorism” and accused it of suppressing free thought.
